A rather nice link is the Tolkien Library with articles and other things of interest to Tolkien fans.
The Encyclopaedia of Arda is useful for all things in Tolkien's mythical world. It's very comprehensive and has new content added regularly. It also has an iPhone and an iPad edition.

I wish I could paint and draw like this.

A watercolour artist called kimberly80 from Deviantart does beautiful Tolkien images:

Glorfindel the Elfin Balrog killer
"Glorfindel was tall and straight; his hair was of shining gold, his face fair and young and fearless and full of joy; his eyes were bright and keen, and his voice like music; on his brow sat wisdom, and in his hand was strength."

I appreciate them LW.
Any opinions on the Rings of Power series?
-
I can't get hold of Rings of Power where I am, T. Have they buggered it up, or is it worth watching?
-
There is one of those big 'fan disappointment' waves about it which could well cancel it flat.
TV ppl need to stop listening to 'fans' because they do NOT represent the majority of the viewership - only the extreme-fan nerds who think they somehow own the show.
Before it came out I said 'wow is this wise? Tolkein is VERY dull and slow! Anyone who's tried reading the Silmarilion (or even the whole LOTR book) knows how slow and boring it is despite its incredible depth and complexity.
Only seen one so far but I thought it was magnificent - the acting, the costumes, the sets, the attention to characters we know, and the music alone makes it worth watching.
Those who wanted a lot of non-Tolkein orc/goblin chase scenes must have hated it.
Dunno what UK feed it was - I saw it on a friend's ludicrous-all-included setup.
