"The Donald" general chit chat thread

When making a post, please ensure it complies with this site's Main Rules at all times.
  • It's entirely up to the American people who they have as president after the next presidential election. It's nothing to do with any other country or any non American. Most world leaders have skeletons in the cupboard or have deficiences in either character or diplomatic skills. Take Macron , Putin, Trump, Merkle and most of our own Prime Ministers, none of them are perfect . Despite the hostile L/W American press and the stupid Luvvie brigade, "The Donald" appears to have the support of ordinary, decent Americans.

It's wrong for the chattering classes in this country and others to try and influence the outcome of the American presidential election, I say " Let America Decide "....

It is very much to do with us

We hope to, in fact have to, trade with the US post Brexit and whoever is in the Whitehouse will affect those trade negotiations

Well the democrats have made it perfectly clear that if Brexit screws over the Northern Ireland situation even a little bit they will tear up any trade agreement. They do not value trade with the UK at all. So lets hope the Republicans win.

  • "Trump replaces campaign manager Brad Parscale in major shake-up"

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/j…ampaign-shakeup

    From the link

"The reshuffle comes as Trump lags behind in polls, trailing his Democratic opponent Joe Biden by 15-points in a Quinnipiac national poll released Wednesday. The Trump administration’s chaotic, ineffectual response to the coronavirus pandemic, which has killed more than 137,000 Americans, and the plummeting of the national economy appear to have triggered a dip in his approval ratings."

The American Democrats have never been a friend of the UK. So that is not in the least surprising. They were the ones sending huge amounts of money to buy explosives and weapons for the IRA murderous terrorist campaign against UK citizens. God forgive that the Democrats win the presidential election.

  • Think you are forgetting the Obamas and Clintons

As Obama was a completely Lame Duck president who never made any proper decisions during his 2 terms in office --AND-- The Clintons who were mired in lies and other dodgy goings on . You will see why I didn't consider them as friends of the UK. ;)

    The Voice of Reason

  • Biden is useless. He is being manipulated by loony lefties who want to involve America in wars. Biden's hatred of the UK is legend and is not our friend.

The sooner Biden is replaced the better.

    This is what I've found:

Tribe says that section four of the 25th Amendment of the Constitution can temporarily “sideline” the president for three weeks at a time, if invoked. But it’s a very difficult process and has also never happened.

Essentially the option exists “if the vice president and the majority of the cabinet members decide that the president [is unfit for] office, that he’s got Alzheimer’s or doesn’t know what he’s doing, doesn’t have a clue what he’s talking about,” Tribe says.

“But it’s not likely that the vice president and the majority of the cabinet would certify that,” he continues. Put another way: Members of the president’s own party would have to be moved to act against him and the voters and outside of Congress.

In the unlikely event that this course of action was taken, the president would step aside for three weeks and the vice president would act in his place. The House of Representatives and then the Senate would determine how to proceed.

Can't see his own party doing much more than letting Kamala replace him.

History is much like an Endless Waltz. The three beats of war, peace and revolution continue on forever.

  • It does show Trump's mindset though, that he thinks he's above everyone else and until/unless Biden has been proven to have dementia, we're stuck with him. Don't forget folks, we never got a trade deal out of Trump either, so I don't think either of them were pro UK, in that sense.

  • We were very close to a trade deal with Trump, but as for how much it was worth to us, I really don’t know!

We might be better off doing this item by item, just as we have done with US trade relating to beef and sheepies.

Trump was out of office before we left the EU. We couldn’t do a deal because of this. Biden reckons he’s Irish so we’re screwed.
