  • 2 Same point as 1. We are banking on Boris not being Theresa.

That, he most definitely is not.

As for Trump, senile or not, everyone, including the media, have just become accustomed to his outbursts. Not so long ago this would've been seen as major interference in our internal affairs, now it's just run of the mill. I think Trump wants Farage in government, that's why he phoned up LBC.

  • " with the punchline question as to how a government can afford social benefits when there are no companies or individuals left to be taxed."

Dennis Healey made a similar promise in the late 70s to "tax the rich until they squealed". When it came to it the rich had hidden their wealth so he was forced to tax the workers on PAYE and we all know how that worked out

Well remembered. A good punchline for Boris.

And of course the media is delighted to screw Johnson. When that mission is accomplished and Corbyn is employed as PM, and voters are unemployed and sleeping and begging in the street, you can sure the media will be there, on salary and expenses, photographing and quizzing them. That's why the media are called Champagne Socialists

No, I wouldn't most of the media as being on the hard left like Corbyn, they're the Blairite elites who know better than all of us, or so they believe.

  • aha - hence the old dog picture!

I hadn't made that connection, Spud is just an old boy that we rehomed

I don't think that the media are the only "champagne socialists", that title belongs to the current Labour politicians

    Did you see this report?

"An NHS manager is being paid rates of almost £2,000 a day and allowed to work from his home in Marbella, an investigation has found.

The “astronomical” sums, revealed in Freedom of Information disclosures, are being paid by a health board which has a deficit of more than £40 million.

Under the deal agreed by the Labour-run Welsh NHS, management consultant Philip Burns will earn more than £360,000 for a nine-month contract which allows him to work a day a week from his Spanish home.

Nice work if you can get it

  • "Well remembered."

I've been around for ever! I can even remember life under the Atlee ultra socialist regime :(

Blimey, that is going back. I've got to refer to history books when looking him up. I hope we've learned some things since those times, but I fear we haven't.

  • Whether they work in a private organisation or a public one, there will always be a certain proportion of the population who are, simply put, total greedy bastards.

How a manager can "manage" from home is beyond me, but of course he's not a manager but a consultant, so all is okay...X/

Everything was rationed under the socialist central control regime, the weekly cheese ration per person was not much bigger than an Oxo cube

But significantly I remember the end of sweet rationing :D

  • And we're worried about the Americans taking over the NHS!!!

  • In my opinion anyone who is a true supporter of democracy and leaving the EU can only vote for Farage and co and any other choice would be hypocritical and make them just as bad as the arseholes who have fucked the country over by standing in the way of Brexit.

Young boys in the park jumpers for goalpost that's what footballs all about isn't it.

Spoken with the arrogance that comes with the Brexiters

  • I think Farage has just killed any chance of his party doing well in the election with that announcement. You're either a leader and lead or get out of the way. He seems to be going for a Blairite third way instead...

Has your view changed with this announcement from Farage?

  • General election 2019: Philip Hammond to stand down as MP

Yeah! The day just got better.:)

Those in west London will never forget that when as defence secretary, that smug git allowed their homes to flood and only called the army out 3-4 days after the floods had destroyed their homes.

    Good riddance to him.

  • Unfortunately Grieve will try and get himself re-elected, but as a independent. If the conservatives in his area choose the official candidate rather than him, then along with Bercow, Letwin and others, some of the main problems in parliament will have gone.

  • I remember when Cameron appointed him to Defence. His qualifications a successful businessman, as if you could run our defence policy as a business

For some reason he became known as "Spreadsheet Phil" whatever that means

There are plenty more Remainer MPs

  • But they're not all made equal or have Gina Miller's lawyer writing Brexit blocking amendments for them.

He only thought of the numbers, not how it would play with the voters. Think of the pasty tax and you have it.

History is much like an Endless Waltz. The three beats of war, peace and revolution continue on forever.

  • Lot of hot air this morning about Rees Smugs comment on the Grenfell residents , typically from the lefty BBC and champagne closet socialist Piers Morgan

The comment was that the Grenfell residents should have ignored the fireservice advice to "stay put"

No I hold no brief for Rees Smug but I do question the fuss, surely basic preservation instinct takes over and one would want to get out, and do so

But in this "snowflake age" they are all falling over themselves to apologise
