Warning: Graphic images of rats.
Handy people to have around.
Expect the animal rights industry to scream and protest, and call for this to be banned

This follows on from the decision to provide free sanitary products to menstruating schoolgirls
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-51167487
This means of course that these schoolgirls will now have extra pennies to spend on their latest smart phones
One also wonders why this is not looking at equality and providing the boys with free shaving products and condoms
"Radio 6 Music presenter Liz Kershaw sparks fury after criticising campaign to beat period poverty - after she tweeted 'how did my mother get to uni without free tampons?'

It's not quite the same...
Blimey. Look at the carnage.
I guess she didn't take the news of the gym price rises well.

I don't think having periods can come as a surprise to girls after they have started so I am puzzled as to what exactly lead to this moment. Are female sanitary products incredibly expensive? How many girls are actually in period poverty? Why wasn't this a thing in years gone by?
Apparently the EU are considering legislation to regulate tattoo inks because of long term health concerns.
EU considering legislation on Tattoo inks
Apart from infections at the time of tattooing and the obvious regret that some feel after having a tattoo done, I have never considered that the inks that are used are not medically tested and approved.
Having said that I haven't heard of any deaths that have been blamed on tattoos either.
This is the sort of thing I don't mind the EU poking their nose into to be honest. I think its a good thing.
But irrelevant to us as we're leaving the bloc.

It's a bandwagon from those who are convinced that people need everything provided for them, they've already started food banks, clothes banks, and fuel banks
It will be transport banks next
But irrelevant to us as we're leaving the bloc.
Indeed, I couldn't give a shit to be honest. But I thought it interesting that the subject is now under review and is possibly the sort of thing the EU is actually good at. I find it hard to object or see a negative. But I am not tattoed and I have no interest in the subject.
Display MoreA huge swarm of locusts have descended on East Africa in what has been called "the most serious outbreak of desert locusts in 25 years".
Incredible images show the plague of insects surging around the nation earlier this week as locals battled to fumigate after the phenomenon.
It comes after an "extremely dangerous increase" in locust swarm activity was reported by officials in Kenya this week.
Authorities confirmed the insects continue to pose an "unprecedented threat to food security" as the insects fly together by the millions — devouring crops in the process.
The locust swarms hang like shimmering dark clouds on the horizon in some places.
One swarm measured a staggering 37 miles long by 25 miles wide in the north-east of the country, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) said in a statement.

I saw a clip o the news about this and the desperate efforts of growers trying to drive the plague away including trying to shoo them off
Isn't it frogs and hailstones next?

...and here is a case for good pesticides.
Not good for planet though (or locusts).

Difficult given the current aversion to anything edible covered in pesticide

Darkness for three days. Then killing of the firstborn.

Indeed I hadn't thought of that. With the push to eat insects to save the planet it could be considered that this a just a very good harvest.

Display MoreIT is not every day that you see a large group of riot police and a large group of firefighters, each in uniform, square up before piling into each other for a mass brawl.
But footage coming out of Paris in recent days has captured several examples of just that. There have also been instances of protesting fire- fighters setting themselves alight — albeit with fire extinguishers on hand to douse the flames.
You are much more likely to have seen these disturbing scenes on social media than on the television news, probably because such images don’t fit with the anti-Brexit narrative of most UK broadcasters.
You see, it was supposed to be Britain that collapsed into chaos, while our continental neighbours basked in the stability allegedly afforded by European Union membership.
Most of us are vaguely aware that the image we are often presented of President Emmanuel Macron as the smooth-talking glamour boy of modern European politics is somewhat at odds with the situation on the ground in his country.
We have heard a bit about the gilets jaunes (“yellow vests”) protesters who have been staging huge and sometimes violent protests every weekend across France for more than a year now.
But despite France being our closest continental neighbour, we don’t quite know what is going on or why — mainly because these extraordinary scenes are so seldom explained or even covered by flagship news programmes.
Not a peep in the MSM about this, yet France is almost paralysed.
Not a peep in the MSM about this, yet France is almost paralysed.
The official media may have declined to report this as they would have been worried about copy-cat protests.
Social media has no such concerns.
