  • How so? I know it's an inconvenient truth for you that the parties bitterly opposed to Brexit outside of Scotland virtually sank without trace at the election, but there you have it.

What do you mean, how so? The argument is about why or how Brexit has damaged our reputation. The argument is not about the performance of political parties opposed to Brexit in the Dec 19 GE. Hello??????

  • For it to be democratic; any referendum, including its results, has to be lawful. If a referendum is found to be undemocratic, it has to be re-run. The result of the 2016 referendum was achieved unlawfully; therefore, not democratic. It should have been re-run.

Ah, no. What you're saying belongs in the garbage can labelled "£350M A Week." The second referendum was not about asking the same question over and over. You're just saying that because people like you, up to this day, nosebleed at the mere mention of the words "second referendum."

Absolute and utter nonsense, schmaltz, as you well know. If you were on the winning side you would have shot down in flames anyone arguing with you on such grounds.

That's British and International law on the concept of democracy applied to elections and referenda. Call them and tell them it's absolute and utter nonsense.

Not everybody shares your dogma. Had I voted to leave; I would have campaigned for a second referendum the moment I knew "my win" was tainted by fraud and corruption. Better to do a re-run and win it convincingly rather than keep a win that stinks of rotting fish.

You can imagine why they panic at the mention of a second referendum, they fear the result ^^

Yup. They panic and lose their cool. And then start chicken necking everyone with things like democracy and will of the people. No offence to them, but it is comical. :D

The reason Brexiteers don't want another referendum is because we have already had one, and many who voted to leave have already made clear that a re-run would be a transparent attempt to overturn it, and therefore they would not trust the system and they would not flatter that system by voting again. So, yes, that would overturn the result in all probability, but it would not settle the matter as the people would cry foul.

If there was a genuine desire to remain in the EU, the Lib Dems would have seen a far better result than it did in the General Election. Why would those wanting to remain have voted Conservative, with the manifesto making clear that they would take us out of the EU?

How can you seriously promote an argument that the General Election result did not reflect what people wanted in terms of the EU?

So under that argument we don't hold general elections anymore "because we've already had one"

The GE result was due to poor leadership, Swinton and Corbyn. Had Cable or Starmer been there the result would have been totally different, and Leavers would be screaming now

  • So under that argument we don't hold general elections anymore "because we've already had one

Referendums are not designed to be repeated. As was made clear at the time, the referendum result would be respected. There was no undertaking to hold as many referendums as it would take to get the 'right answer'.

The GE result was due to poor leadership, Swinton and Corbyn. Had Cable or Starmer been there the result would have been totally different, and Leavers would be screaming now

That's opinion on your part, and totally unprovable.

We saw traditional Labour voters complaining that Labour were not listening to them and telling interviewers that they would vote Conservative for the first time for that reason and to get the Brexit result implemented.

Time and time again, we saw the BBC's 'Question Time' revealing that most of their 'carefully selected audiences' clearly supported Brexit, much to the chagrin of the Beeb establishment. Fiona Bruce's face frequently looked like a smacked bottom. Very, very annoyed and dismissive.

That is the truth of the matter, without the spin.

  • Yes, many remainers who are still protesting think it's funny that Brexiteers prefer democracy than rule by the undemocratic EU. I find that sad, not comical.

Yes, Brexiteers used and will use undemocratic ways and means to achieve their preference for democracy. It is sad. And comical.

A vote against Corbyn; rather than a vote for Johnson.

I am not a Tory, but they were by far the most credible potential government. Socialism is dead and buried, so that took out the Labour party, the Lib Dems, and the Green party. To be honest, until there is another credible right wing party the Tories have nothing to worry about.

The intelligent are being oppressed so the stupid don't get offended

More like credible manipulators of truth. But that's just me talking.

  • IOW Liars and wafflers

I think your getting Tory MP's confused with all MP's. The thing is people say they want MP's to be honest, but when they are people don't like it. The only politician I have ever believed is Farage, and some people don't like him either. Think what you like about Trump, but at least he says it as he sees it, whereas Obama never gave a straight answer to anything, and never actually did anything, but many Brits thought he was an American God
