New Chinese virus spreads

  • My faith in my fellow man was restored yesterday evening. Our local Tesco Extra used to be open 24 hours but now closes at 10. The night crew who stock the shelves used to work through the night but now presumably start sometime in the afternoon. This means effectively that by early evening the store is pretty full of essentials

So we have taken to shopping at 6 or 7 o'clock where initially the store was pretty empty, and we could walk straight in. However it looks as of others have latched on to this, and it has got busier

Yesterday evening we arrived, the disabled parking spaces were all empty so we took the first place next to the entrance where a small queue had formed. I knew that I could not stand for the time it would take but we always have the wheelchair in the car so out that came. The queue watched the process of me getting into the chair and when we set off to the back of the queue they all waved us through to the front where the security bloke waved us in

I was touched by a simple gesture of humanity

If that held me up getting in, I would have been livid. You should have got to the back of the queue, and that's why so much resentment is felt towards the old and disabled.:D:D:D:D

The intelligent are being oppressed so the stupid don't get offended

  • If everybody goes and stands outside to clap the NHS Thursday night, I'm going outside to clap Boris.

No, what you mean is that's the what YOU would have expected. Thank fully the rest of society has compassion

  • 1] there is no evidence that putting Boris under ICU watch denied that facility to anyone in greater need

2] if was such evidence, then the decision on ICU eligibility is said to be based on who has the highest probability of survival from such treatment or resurce

3] no one has yet dared to raise the question let alone answer it, on the relative eligibility to attach to likely survival vs merit/worth in society when forced tomake that choice

    .

    Wow, you take no prisoners!

I was at a Lidle till queue a few weeks ago with just one purchase item and there two ladies in front of me with full trollies and the lady whose turn it was next called out to me to jump in just before her. Presumably if you were just in front of me in the queue with your full trolley would you have been livid?

    Just asking!

I don't go to supermarkets, I am married.

  • I think this is worth posting. It was drawn by an 11 year old boy who I suggest could have a future as an observational artist. I think he's got it right.

  • And after Kieran Watson's highly accurate artwork, the following, that I've copied from another person who has also pasted it on social media. It is the outburst of a highly qualified, skilled and dedicated scientist who is growing increasingly frustrated with the general public's response to the virus.

    Read and understand his exasperation.

As someone with a Masters in disease control, you can only imagine the sheer hell on earth that Facebook is for me at the moment.

From Chantelle who has impressively made the leap from bath bomb retailer to consultant virologist in a matter of weeks and can tell you exactly why the government and their experts are wrong, to Bob who claims to have secret intel from a secret government group on the secret programme of secret treatment measures that the government are definitely bringing in at 3pm next Thursday, only it’s a secret, but he’s posting it on Facebook so he feels like 007, to Steve who thinks it’s all a load of bollocks and if he wants to wander round town he bloody well can cos he doesn’t feel sick and why the fuck is ‘spoons shut cos his granddad didn’t fight the nazis for him to be told to stay inside even if pornhub premium is now free for a week.

I tried as hard as I could in my studies and in my work in disease control to avoid viruses like the plague (see what I did there?) because they are absolute bastards. Bacteria are so much easier to control and parasites are positively dreamy. Viruses are utter bastards (did I mention that?) because you can do almost fuck all to them. To deal with viruses you have to deal with the viral vector instead. That’s the weak point for a virus. Its vector. Only in this case the vector is humans, bloody stupid, arsehole humans like Chantelle, Bob and Steve. Viral control is about psychology more than it’s about medicine and that’s what’s scary about it. Giving everyone a pill is easy, getting everyone to listen and change their behaviour is a fucking nightmare.

The virus is just chugging along being a virus, it’s living it’s best life . You can’t ignore it out of existence, scaremonger it away or become magically immune by gargling with vinegar, donning a decorating mask or sticking a live frog up your arse and swanning round town like an immortal dickhead. You have to actually do what you’re being told to do. YOU.

YOU. You can stop it. Do what you’re told. Stay the fuck inside. Stop thinking you’re an expert, stop thinking you know best, stop thinking you’re a rebel, stop trying to be a special little cupcake. Be a sheeple. Do what you’ve been asked to do. This is NOT your time to shine sweet cheeks, this isn’t your opportunity to over throw the system and save mankind. It’s your opportunity to sit tight, watch Netflix and save mankind.

The virus does not give a shit about you. You’re just a stepping stone, a host, a nameless, faceless breeding ground and launchpad. All it gives a shit about is reproducing and finding new hosts. Don’t let it. Break the chain. Shut the hell up. Stop spreading fake news, fear and gossip. Let the experts be the experts and do what they tell you because all the googling, all the conspiracy theories, all the spoilt princess routines and all the voodoo bullshit in the world is not going to help you one little bit. This is not about YOUR ego, it’s about OUR survival. So act for the good of us all and do what you’re being asked to do.

Stay inside, protect the NHS, save lives.

It's YOU that he's talking to.

  • You married in name only, maybe for convenience?

I think it's mainly hen pecked men that allow their wives to force them into going to the supermarket. We have an agreement, I won't take her to the pub, if she doesn't take me to the supermarket. Surely that's classed as equal opportunities

    Have you converted to Islam?

  • Have you converted to Islam?

Like I have previously said, there are certain things in the Islamic faith I agree with.

I don't believe men are better than women, but I do believe we are totally different creatures. Modern society attempts to portray us as being very similar, and that just isn't true. If there is one thing that this lock down has taught me, men and women have very little in common.

  • Sad news. An ice cream man in my village who is fed up with the lock down has been found dead outside his house. He was covered in strawberry sauce and crushed nuts. Police think he may have topped himself :D

You should edit that to "some men"

  • You should edit that to "some men"

I know that was a joke, but you are possibly right. Being male and female isn't a black and white issue. Some men have female tendencies, and as result enjoy shopping, and spending time with their wives. I think I must be 99.9% male

  • even if pornhub premium is now free for a week.

Oh thanks I didn't know that. That should come in handy.^^

As someone with a Masters in disease control,

So now we have someone that thinks they have a masters degree in disease control. You see the problem here is that everyone is qualified on the internet.

I think this is worth posting. It was drawn by an 11 year old boy who I suggest could have a future as an observational artist. I think he's got it right.

I call fake on this. The only bits that have been done differently are the hair strokes on the Hospital staff figure on the left and the Paramedic figure on the bottom. Look at the style of the strokes and the weight to them. Much more child like compared to the rest of the pic that looks like it's been done by an artistic mummy or someone. It's probably been put on facebook by a bored school teacher trying to be clever. I don't believe that is an image by an 11 year old boy unless his name is Rene Magritte. Even the colours used White coat for scientist, Green for Paramedic and Blue for hospital staff it's all to well thought out along with the Green land shadings to give depth, then there's the smaller details like the creases in the legs including the Green on the paramedics leg and then the squiggle under the hand.

This reads like a critique by an art expert :)
