  • What a strange comment

The government make the laws, who else do you think does

because if you design a car it doesn't mean the factory will put it together properly. Blaming the government for all mistakes is daft, and that doesn't matter what colour rosette the government politicians wear.

Nothing strange: Government pass laws, the police and courts enforce them. That's why you don't see Boris or Cummings out arresting people.

History is much like an Endless Waltz. The three beats of war, peace and revolution continue on forever.

  • Your right Old Boy, but unfortunately not everyone is as clever as you and I. It needs to burn it's self out, as the likelihood of a vaccine appearing within a reasonable time is quite remote. Short term pain for long term gain I call it. Unfortunately few governments are brave enough to take this strategy, knowing full well they would be blamed for every single death. We already have people criticising them because they feel they didn't lock down early enough, so what do you think it would be like if they didn't lock down at all. I live in a very safe area with very little covid, but the way I see it there is loads of fuel to burn here, if you get my meaning. In other words there is no herd immunity. What isn't helping is the refusal of people to do as their told, so I fear the worst

You call morons like Trump and Bolsonaro brave?

  • As long no vaccine is ready thats the way to go. Nobody want end like shithole USA which has a complete collapse of its healthcare system and 180.000 dead now.

Don't hold your breath. I don't think they are any nearer a vaccine than they were six months ago

    White lives matter

  • It takes on average 10 years for any vaccine to be developed and go through and be passed in proper trials and accredited with legit certifications for use in the main. Anything they talk about now is either political hype or is being rushed to the point where we might see worse problems than COVID as a result of the vaccine not going through proper trials over time. Many folk may end up developing a disability that they have to live with for the rest of their life. It's happened in the past and people have had to be compensated for it.

What I can see happening is an increase in the anti-vax movement which TBH I think they are right to question. The problem is what could then happen is that we will need some kind of certificate or passport and if we don't have that we will be outcast from society, no travelling, no working etc. Maybe we will be required to be micro-chipped. The worlds corporate super powers want to find a way to do this and here's the perfect excuse to backdoor it in and persuade people through fear or being outcast. It may even be on a nano scale, so small and in the so called vaccine so we are chipped without even knowing, a biological device that attaches itself inside the body and then years down the road we find there is an increase in cancers or something. They may even combine it with other so called vaccines without telling us.

    Wrong.

If multiple steps are done at same time and with enough recources it can be done within 8 months.

Its quite easy. The old way was Step A-> Step B ->Step C

    Now Its Team1 does StepA

Team 2 does Step B and Team 3 does Step C. Since gargantuan rescoruces are poured into this project.

Btw the only positive thing about COVID-19 is, that it crushs Trump. That fool is at an end and i think it gets dangerous now, since he acts more and more erratic and crazy.

  • Interesting. I believe if people do what they are asked we can get through this without a second peak, unfortunately they aren't and I'm not sure they will.

When did the regulation of society depend on people doing what they are asked rather than what they're told to do, where non-compliance leads to a heavy fine, quite possibly a criminal record and even imprisonment?

For example, when was it decided that it would be best to stop at just asking people to try and refrain from ......

    a) driving down a busy shopping street at 80mph?

    b) driving home after a lengthy pub drinking session with friends?

    c) letting themselves be within 2m of strangers in a pandemic while not knowing if they are a carrier of that contagious disease

The answer to (c) is should a minimum a 2 week quarantine, to be imposed immediately on the spot and, in the case of resistance, quarantine willbe in a prison.

The problem we have here is an unncessary number of deaths as a result of a society virus called "Permissiveness" and a government virus called "Whatever You Do, Don't Lose Votes".

    A plague on them both.

  • It does not matter how many resources you have at once you can't speed up time trials unless your a time traveller.

You have no clue what you talk about. Each flu vaccine is developed within 7 to 14 months.

But hey you are from UK, thats another shithole country where COVID 19 went rampant.

  • This information about the spike in virus cases in Leicester was released yesterday, and was almost certainly known last week. Hancock has repeatedly assured us that they have the powers to "instantly lock down" any outbreak

But they are not locking Leicester down until Thursday. Typical of this governments too late action

  • Germany and France have a vaccine ready by december

I will believe that when I see it. There are dozens of vaccines being developed, but the reality is that any Corona virus is very hard to vaccine against. Let's not forget, the common cold is a Corona virus

    White lives matter

  • LOL, We just had thousands of idiots, mainly aged between 20 and thirty, mainly socialist liberals, protesting shoulder to shoulder in major towns and cities around the country, and your worried Cummings, who incidentally was in the bubble of his motor vehicle. So, are you proposing the police only arrest Labour MP's and leave Tories alone. Please answer that carefully, your in real risk of making a complete plonker of yourself

re protesters shoulder to shoulder: let's also add to our national petri dish Bournemouth's answer to St Tropez and just about any crowd where age & IQ are correlated. = the estimated age and IQ are practically the same number enough e with St Tropez oiBourbeach

re your last sentence: you're way too late. Think positive: every forum should have its very own home-grown Darioush. But just as a monkey can in the fullness of time accidentally type a Shakespeare sonnet, a complete plonker might well be right in judging that the Government has decided it hasn't the resources for law enforcement without sparking off uncontrollable civic uprising and riots and, just maybe, the Government could be right. Every situation that requires making a tough decision about Cov 19 seems to be a viewed by this Government either as a tinderbox for civil war or a threat to losing the next General Election or at odds with the naive belief that libertarianism and a faith in the nation's sense of social responsibility will win the day. I have this fantasy or grave suspicion (sic) that the top echelons of the Government (Johnson and Cummings and a small handful of cabinet cyphers, in secret talks in a soundproof basement) have decided that, irrespective of the unknown speed and effectivess of the pursuits of the drug industry, the risk of another 50,000-200,000 cov 19 deaths would be a price worth paying for a return to normality. If that means places like Leicester becomes a ghost town, well, every cloud has a silver lining.

  • 1 Why?

2 You spoiled an excellent post by adding this

    Answer to 1: Because

    Answer to 2: Why?

Alternative answer to 2: I don't give a Flying F-ck what you think

Answer to anyone else reading this reply, I offer touch of verbal diarrhea beyond the ken of my constipated replyer above): my last sentence was a mixture of flipness, irony, exasperation and hostility based on how immigrant or ethnic ghetto-ism expands into a whole town (perpetuating the skin colour/race/ethnic stand-off) coupled with the observation that, within these ghettoes, there is a way-above average ignorance or disregard for complying with the advice of Government and medical science to exercise common-sense precautions to reduce the likelihood of catching Cov 19 or, far worse, transmitting it to some innocent passer-by. Lock down is the obvious easy solution. The combination of compulsory Cov19 testing followed by a lengthy mass quarantine would be an alternative, where these aliens can convert their ignorance or disregard into a controlled test of herd immunity.

  • Couldn't resist could you

Here's some facts for you, your white supremacy in Leicester is safe

What is the population of Leicester 2020?

What percentage of Leicester is white? Ethnicity

    White: Total178,73950.52%
    Asian or Asian British: Indian72,03328.30%
    Asian or Asian British: Pakistani4,2762.45%
  • When millions of people decide they've had enough of lockdown what do you expect the government to do?

Put the military on the streets with guns?

It's not millions, but those selfish millenoiums who were crowding at the beaches, so yes in answer to your question.

You're talking civil war, it could come to that.

Nah! ^^ most of these selfish iodiots don't get ut of bed until lunch, so hardly likely. (I've got a whole houseful of them next to me

  • How is this going to work, a ring of tanks surrounding the perimeter?

I've caught the news this morning, but I'm none the wiser to be honest. The city centre is still full of people, although most of the shops are now shutting.

I've no idea why extra laws are needed and in that article, Hancock is talking about even more laws if enforcement is needed to stop people leaving the city. I thought that the law that was passed by government earier in the year, had covdered all of this stuff, but cleearly not.

If one were to be sceptical of the government and I am, despiter voting for them, one could say that their eyes are more on other things (like Cumming's vision for whitehall) rather than dealing with this stuff properly.

  • I suspect that they wanted to delay dealing with Leicester so as not to detract from Johnsons so called big announcement today

I think you are essentially correct but the philosophy behind their apparent distractions to other matters probably isn’t fully understood. If you remember their original strategy was that of herd immunity which in all truth makes sense even if you don’t like it. The idea that we can lockdown and hide from Covid 19 is frankly absurd. As a global pandemic for which there is and probably won’t be a vaccine anytime soon we cannot hide ourselves away forever. We will all catch Covid eventually and we will either survive or die all we are doing is putting off the point in time when we have to face it. The government never wanted to lockdown but eventually had to in reaction to what was happening in Spain and Italy. Remember they had so many dead they were stacking bodies in the Town Halls and community centres. However, underneath all this was the herd immunity strategy which states that we must all face Covid and let our own bodies fight it.

Look at Germany, the Gold Standard in anti Covid measures. A population some 22million greater than our own in Central Europe and originally only 8500 dead. They came out of lockdown and bang they have a massive spike, they have gotten nowhere, they are now probably behind the UK and the rest of Europe as they will have to let the population get infected to obtain herd immunity.

In the meantime there is other business to attend to, the stuff that we actually elected them to do and they have to get that done. There isn’t much can be done about Covid it just has to run its course.

  • If you remember their original strategy was that of herd immunity which in all truth makes sense even if you don’t like it

I agree and also do you remember what Boris and the experts first said about a possible lockdown in February/early March? They were hoping not to start the lockdown until July. Essentially, they've been pushed into a timetable and strategy which they didn't want or were prepared for.

Where I believe the government maybe culpable here, if it were to go to court and assuming the government's apparent reluctance to bring in a lockdown was because they wanted herd immunity, is that over the elderly and vulnerable.

Rather than locking down the whole population, the care homes/hospitals etc should've gone into lockdown and been protected and then let herd immunity run its course through the rest of the population. Assuming the virus is of natural origins...
