"complementary CTV"
Yes but what is the C? It already said "complimentary" in the bit you pasted.
Unless it's like the TCM rebrand to TCM Movies so it becomes Turner Classic Movies Movies.
I would go for your TCM example, although I'm guessing!

I've been told elsewhere, and subsequently confirmed myself, that the two links to tweets I posted no longer work.
I then discovered that a516digital replaced those 2 tweets with 1 tweet, containing extra information, that those particular closures will be happening on April 13th.
That date is confirmed on this ITV page for ITV Central East.

When I saw that yesterday I just thought "why's it need a software update on individual's boxes?" Surely it's a backend change, rather than a customer-side change. Anyhoo that's what they did...what do I know?
Apparently Vice UK (Channel 183) is closing at the end of April.

It will continue providing content to other services. I knew it had a deal for All4, I didn't realise it had been providing Channel4/E4 programming for linear broadcast too. They've been doing similar things in other countries too according this article.
Someone on Digital Spy (sorry I forget who) suggested Sky might get content from them too this way, to use on Sky Documentaries. A good idea, and sounds similar to what they did with LoveNature for Sky Nature, sounds plausible strategy to use Vice as a supplier.
The following may equally apply to Freesat platform as it uses the same satellites.
I've seen in various places it pointed out that there's a mystery HD service on the Sony satellite transponder.
Now, not all satellite transponders are "broadcaster exclusive", but this one contains all of Sony's UK English-language channel portfolio, so the chances are this is a Sony HD channel.
There has been talk that they are planning on a HD version of the main Sony Movies, and that is the highest rating of their portfolio so it is probably the most likely.
Looking at DigitalBitRate it shows that the service started broadcasting at the end of March and it fills most of the remaining space on the transponder, so there's not going to be a whole load of simultaneous launches of, say, all their movie channels. It doesn't seem to be using new encoder technology (as I discussed on another thread) based on the bitrates on show, which may have left them with space for another stream if they had. The channel is just showing coloured bars and has a number as its name, so it could be any broadcaster, not necessarily Sony.
If Sony are launching a HD channel I'd have thought it would be FTA. Many the FTA channels who have launched HD versions in recent years that I can think of have launched FTA.

I don't think I have ever even switched over to this channel once? Presumably, its reality tv stuff??

About bloody time!
Considering they are one of the major Hollywood studios who not inly pumps out films, but tv shows too, they really don't seem to have a clue as to how to distribute all their stuff, or, at least in the UK anyway. Perhaps in other countries Sony has a more cohesive strategy, but I doubt it.
