I thought it might be useful to have a thread devoted to listing the availability of LIVE & FREE UK TV channels available to stream legally via Official apps.

Not everyone knows what channels are available, or where and until there's a unified Freeview or Freesat app or Official IP-streaming platform individual apps is the way to go. For free anyway.

    Note:

    - Registering for an account is often required, even for free content.

    - Availability may differ depending on what platform the app is on or postcode.

  • The Sky News App allows the streaming of the Live UK version of the channel.

The NHK World Japan App allows the streaming of the Live channel, with the option of AI-translated subtitles, if you don't speak English, in 3 other languages.

    Update

STV Player also allows the streaming of STV+1 in Scotland. There is no logo to identify but it's the tile to the right of the live STV stream.

  • All4 new information

Channel 4 are supporting multiple versions of their TV Streaming Stick/Box App. Have now seen newer hardware using same platform and it has got Live TV (and updated colour scheme/branding, so that's the clue to which version you have). So you'll be provided whichever version your device is capable of.

  • Plex Launches Free Live TV Channels In The UK | Cord Busters
The popular media management platform is adding free, live TV channels - cooking, news, cartoons and more. Here is the complete list of new channels
    www.cordbusters.co.uk

Just thought it was worth a mention that the Plex app has had free live tv channels on it for three years now, including channels with UK specific material like a British film channel.

Plex is available on various platforms, including firesticks and many smart tvs.

  • And to continue the update of this thread, we also now have PlutoTV and Freevee, the new home of Neighbours, available on most platforms:

    https://www.digitaltveurope.com/2023/05/05/ae-…evee-in-the-uk/

    https://www.tvchannellists.com/w/List_of_chan…(United_Kingdom)

Both streamers contain UK specific channels and shows.

Pluto was available when I started this thread. I deliberately left it off as I it was my aim to focus on delivery of standard traditional broadcast channels via internet apps so someone could replicate Freeview/Freesat with an internet device like a stick, mobile or tablet (like a free version of Sky and Virgin Media's internet TV services, but entirely free and compiled before they launched).
