Just thinking, FRIENDS was a great and classic comedy series. It consisted of three white attractive females, and three white attractive males. Time has now moved on, and it got me wondering what the cast would have to look like now. My guess is, at least, one Asian person, one black person, one gay person, one disabled person, a transsexual, and somebody horribly obis. Hang on, that doesn't leave room for any white attractive people
If "FRIENDS" was made now

Yes Bibbles. It was a perfectly normal tv series, with normal Men and Women. Nowadays the stupid Snowflakes wouldn't allow such sensible ideas. They would demand that all sorts of sexual weirdos be cast to play the parts.

I never watched friends, only ever saw trailers for it and that was enough to put me off. 🙄

The signature tune was fairly decent…

Loved the theme, but never actually seen the series.

If it was made now it would have no humans and would be made with 3D generated figures and cartoon characters.

On R4 paper review this morning a publication had said "Friends: The show for people who don't have any"

It wasn't hilarious, it was mildly funny, and a very warm comedy series. It was enormously popular for a reason. Friends was one of a few American comedies I have ever liked, along with Frasier and Schitz Creek. I am a comedy nut, and watch very little else, and my pet hate is ANY crime drama

I preferred Taxi with Danny Devito as US sitcoms go. I never watched friends religiously but it was a good filler if there was nothing else to watch. TV companies like it because it's cheap to put reruns on the box but they would have to remove half the content now to make it more politicly correct which will put the older viewers off and younger viewers have nothing in common with it so wont be interested. It's mostly all hype but that is how the US survives in it's Hollywood fantasy world.

I never had any inclination to watch it.
BTW the quote was from Ally Ross in the Sun. He's pretty acerbic when criticising.

I watch little TV, and 90% of what I do watch is comedy, normally repeated comedy. I absolutely hate any crime drama, reality TV, and soaps, which make up 99% of TV scheduling. It's such a shame comedy is rarely made now, and I suspect that is because of political correctness. You see, it's hard to make something funny without offending someone, and we mustn't offend anyone, must we?

There was a programme on about Michael Parkinson last night Bibbles (he's very frail now) and he showed just what superb comedians we used to have. There was a segment where Dudley Moore and Peter Ustinov teamed up for a opera sketch. Utterly brilliant.

The character Ross played by David Schwimmer dated a very attractive black lady in the later series. Schwimmer apparently insisted on his new girlfriend being of colour because he was aware of the already growing criticism regarding lack of diversity and that was late 90’s. So the series wasn’t entirely immune to wokery even then.

Yeah..... it was so.... NORMAL.....
I guess you just forgot about Ross's ex-wife's lesbian partner Susan. Must have missed that series, eh..?
Oh yeah, and Phoebe's evil twin sister Ursula.... Ooops, forgot about that, I guess. Never mind.
...... I nearly forgot... what about Ross and Rachel having a baby after a one night stand.. Oh yeah, that's right.
So.... how many times DID Ross and Rachel get together and then split up again over the course of 10 series..? Over to you on that one.
Ooops, I nearly forgot that Monica and Richard had an affair even though he was twenty years older than her and he broke her heart because he didn't want to have children.
Of course, Joey was a womanising bastard who exploited multiple women over the lifetime of the show, but hey... what a guy, eh...?
And wasn't Chandler's mother a writer of soft-porn literature and his father was a gay, cross-dressing Las Vegas show star..?
Ross had three failed marriages during the series. The first turned out to be a bisexual named Carol (with a secret girlfriend named Susan. See above) and the second one left him because he said Rachel's name instead of hers during their drunken Las Vegas wedding ceremony.
Apart from that it all was done IN THE BEST POSSIBLE TASTE...!!!
(I know I shouldn't pick on Mad Mike like I do, but he sooooooooo sets himself up for it......)

True that Ross's ex wife was a dyke, but she wasn't one of the main characters. It was the six main characters I was referring to. The fact Joey got his leg over on a regular basis can only be considered a good thing, SURELY?

On this we agree. We have a minority of snowflakes and lefty liberals that set our standards, then we insist the rest of the world has to abide by them.

My son says that the world is now run by all those who were bullied at school and they are now getting revenge. Sounds simple but I think he has a point.
