Man stabs burglar to death

When making a post, please ensure it complies with this site's Main Rules at all times.
  • If he had left it to the police nothing would’ve happened or in the unlikely event the burglars had been caught the courts would’ve likely let them off. He and his mates did what the law wouldn’t to the thieving scum. Just a shame he isn’t getting a pride of Britain award rather than prosecution.

  • No need for that any more and all it takes is an app on your mobile phone and to be in close vicinity to an unprotected key that is not RFID protected in a bag /case.

Yes they can steal your car without taking the keys off you they don't need to burgle your house to get them, that is why my car keys are kept in a metal key safe in the House even if I am in the House.

In the old days just jiggle the lock with a ground down wavy piece of thin metal, or packing tape slipped through the window rubber hook it over the push rod pull it up and off you go

The other ways they can steal your car is at petrol stations that is why I lock mine when I leave it to pay inside, or the good old fashioned way robbery give me your car keys or else.

We do live in interesting times ;)

Having read some of the evidence the Jury has been told and shown , the householder knew the man he killed they were friends from childhood, there is something not right about this to me it does not appear to an opportunist burglary , what were the burglars really after,

    Good point Fred

  • My opinion best guess that the two men on trial who confronted the burglar attacked him injured him that left their house drove away then returned shortly afterwards to attacked the burglar who was in the street had drugs in the house, and had got rid of them before coming back to the house to attack the burglar again.

Even if the second assault on the burglar had not happened , he was dead already from the first stab wounds, the second assault just hastened his death

I could be totally wrong but that is what I think may have happened

  • I was waiting for that as that was predictable....more speculation. But you right there's more to this if they knew each other as there a connection there. Maybe they are just old school friends that dislike each other or the guy never returned something borrowed and considered it stolen. It could even be stolen goods rather than drugs. It could be anything or maybe stealing some paperwork but wreck the rest of the house to make it look like a burglary.

  • Something is not right, if the household on trial knew one of the burglars he may when have know who the other or others were as well , from what I have read it appears they have not been traced by the Police or come forward

  • Absolutely disgusting. What are the police doing investigating serious crime. I thought training these days ceased at the the level of "send-three cops-to-arrest-a woman-in-front-of-her-children-for allegedly-misgendering=a-serial-trans-whatever-who-happens-to-be-a-lawyer-with-history-of-chasing-misgenderers". And then after over two years having the appeal succeed as magistrates were the usual woke idiots and needed proper court to sort it.

We are on the same wavelength, Alf-Rex. Householders who kill intruders should be excused from any crime. Can you imagine how frightening it would be as waking up to find burglars in your house? You don’t know whether they are more frightened than you or hardened violent criminals. It should be a case of criminals beware.

These days, criminals seem to view criminals as their friends. How did we ever get to this state?

  • Householders who kill intruders should be excused from any crime.

This is where the US have got things right when it comes to protecting property. Over there guns are involved but the principle still stands. If someone breaks in and enters your home with intention to burgle, rape or whatever, especially if woken up in the middle of night and one takes a shovel and decapitates them or smashes their brain in with a Maglight, rolling pin or whatever then so be it. That should be the end of it. Outside your home is a different matter.

  • It is a lot worse. I was a cop and quit in disgust in 1970 as I could not stomach the corruption between local authority and police. Sergeant told me to save my breath as whatever Councillor/senior official did would be sorted in the golf club. 50 years on it is even worse.

Family member (FM) and baby father (BF) were on methadone program. This is administered locally by a charity (CC) contracted to local authority (LA). Anyone on methadone is immediately investigated as unfit to be a parent when pregnancy happens (2018). A charity employee (SA) is assigned to case. In our area there were four different contractors in three years but the staff were moved en masse between undertakings. FM & BF had issues with SA and complained to CC. CC provided chronology of drug test results to FM and BF. I was asked to review them and reported my findings to CC. CC replied with complete apology for "multiple errors" and rescinded the drug test results which were based partly one staff gossip. From frequent heroin use by both parents there was one possible positive by BF who was on prescribed opioid anyway and zero for FM.

This came about because as a core member of the child protection group I reviewed the reports by SA and they did not tally with the rest results. TA reported wrong results and, worse, adverse results for tests which never happened. Our LA permits the CC staff like SA to attend and make recommendations as to outcomes for child protection cases, even though SA is not a member of any professional body, had no professional training and is not subject to any disciplinary sanction by any outside body.

I reported her behaviour to police. Officer came to house and I gave him a 40 page document with all the reports, including the false test results. ( I would point out here that the social worker in charge left the original reports in the court file and omitted any mention of the later exculpatory ones ). Officer took five minutes to decide it was a civil matter only. The outcome was as follows:

    Dear Mr

Firstly, thank you for your email and for speaking to me on the telephone. As agreed I have now spoken to the officer who attended your home. The officer had confirmed this was a civil matter at that stage; the reporting body had been Social Services who would instruct their contractor to investigate and provide a reply to them. If a criminal offence had been identified/intended it would then be notified to police by Social Services. You asked if the person responsible for the testing error had been dismissed? Unfortunately I am unable to answer this question for you. You would need to ask Social Services.

I apologise for the stress and upset you described to me on the telephone. Unfortunately I cannot change the outcome for you. I will close your email as an expression of dissatisfaction due to it having no police relevance at this time.

If you or your daughter wish to seek further support in this matter you could contact Citizens advice who may be able to assist.

    Kind regards,

    Gloria

So now it is up to a LA to find out its own misdeeds and investigate itself and its staff and then it decides if a crime is intended and only THEN does it report the matter to police. What a lovely cosy way to exist. Note that the matter is not even signed off by a senior officer. They use civilian staff to filter out as any complaints as possible and mark them down as "dissatisfaction".

The same LA is even more bent. I got a PCN last year for driving in a bus lane. There was no such thing and FOI showed a bus lane had never existed. There had been a bus gate a couple of years ago but it had been removed at some point for rebuilding the bus station in the town centre. Where the bus lane used to be is now a one way road with bus stands on the left and a right hand lane for traffic to pass. the "BUS GATE" text has been burned off the road surface. All the road signs have been left in place even though the gate has gone. There have been over 12000 tickets issued and LA is still issuing them.

When I challenged it they said I was in a bus gate ( not a bus lane). went to tribunal and LA offered no evidence so nothing to pay.

At the very least the LA has been fraudulently issuing tickets since the gate was removed, but they fail to specify when it was removed. The offence code for a bus lane is 34 which is what I originally got. LA says it also applies to bus gates but that is actually 33. So I bet ever single ticket has been void and LA knows it. This is not a case of faulty or misleading signage. This is definitely a deliberate act of knowingly defrauding motorists by putting them in fear of court action.

This is a good example of how the law does not apply equally. There is no means of having LA prosecuted for fraud as there in nobody responsible. Forget police or CPS.

Probable outcome will be to sue LA for harassment and attempted fraud, but note that LA has committed actual fraud on every driver who has paid. Then use the publicity to get them.

  • I’ve been saying it for a while now. The whole system of law and order, particularly enforcement and punishment, needs a radical overhaul. This country is becoming a free for all for criminals in an environment where innocent parties are penalised for causing offence.

Why are there no political parties in the UK with a policy of whole scale reform of the criminal justice system? Bringing criminals to book and locking them up for much longer is what so many are crying out for, but nobody seems to be listening.

  • I forgot to mention that when I quit cophood I put on an honest uniform for 9 years. Whilst serving and enjoying the honesty the news broke that the former head of LA where I was a cop and the head of police authority of neighbouring county both got several years for corruption. I will leave it up to anyone of a certain age to work out where I am.

  • AL

1970s policing was a very different time, policing today is not something you'd recognise. I am not so naive as to say corruption is gone, but in the way you experienced it I believe it has. Yes I am ex cop left in 1999. I have subsequently found that policing standards differ greatly up and down the country.

Regarding this case, the man was a murderer plain and simple, but arresting someone is very different from proving your case or even getting past the can't prosecute service (CPS). I am also an advocate in trial without jury at times. The Extinction rebellion/shell fiasco springs to mind.

Imho we have had, are having and will continue to have too much political interference in policing, when their appointed officials carry out misdemeanours they are reluctant to hold them to account, queue Ghengis Khan. A man who broke the law over Cressida Dick fucked up with the metropolitan police who despise the little shit yet he still sits in office. That's the system not the police. The PCC office is a political appointment simply because the number of votes cast imo should mean that no one gets appointed.

As an ex cop I find it quite offensive that all cops get tarred as the same same as a baddun. The number of met officer under investigation for complaints is about 7%, but 80%+ of those will be unfounded or NOT GUILTY. Some call it otherwise but I ignore their double standards. During the parliamentary expenses scandalous 40 MP's were involved or around just over 6%. As you can see the figures are very similar, but one rubbishes and has power over the other. I'll leave that to people's imagination.

Please Sir, I want some more. MORE you greedy little socialist.

  • Further to what Canny Lad says, Senior ranks above Chief Inspector in any police force are politicians first and police second... They are guarding their backsides in case any flak comes in their direction instead of supporting the rank and file police officer who is trying to put offenders behind bars and protect members of the public .... The phrase "Lions led by Donkeys" immediately springs to mind..
