  • Some owners just will not see they do any wrong. I had a guy with a dog on an extending lead, he was 15 feet from his dog, and the lead was wrapped around my leg. They should be banned. He could not give a flying Duck.

8|Do not trade me a Rabbit and hand me a Hare. (I know the strain of species in Leporidae).

    8) Q: If a Dog's tail is called a leg, how many legs does the Dog have? -

A: "5" // No - the answer is 4. Just because you call the tale a leg it does not make it a leg. Lefties think the answer is "5".

  • It's just that they don't know how to control their dogs. If you see another dog coming, get control before it reaches you.

I just need to speak to mine, albeit drill sergeant style. That irritates my wife who'll say don't talk to him like that. Dogs are pack animals and you've gotta be the Alfa male. Tbh IDGAF if people thinky tone of voice is aggressive, but the dog knows and he reacts accordingly.

There is a proper way to train using a choker, but my advice would be a police style trainer lead, it has 3 settings and you will always have good control unlike extenders. But a proper collar imo is essential for control.

Please Sir, I want some more. MORE you greedy little socialist.

  • I had Alsations and Belgian Shephards - I trained them in the exact way you say. They were one word obedient.

I said "NO" for everything they must not do. I always had them on a shortish lead. Never let them off the lead except in open country, fields.

I never let them rush to the front door when someone knocked. Then, as many do, allow the dog at the open front door.

I could open the rear door of my car they never jumped out until I said "OUT"!

They are dogs NOT our children.

  • My boy does pull a bit when I walk him in his harness but when his mum walks him he’s as good as gold

She's the boss then. Head of the pack! It seems your at the bottom LOL

If a dog is under control you shouldn't even need a lead. I hate walking dogs on leads and like to give them some freedom but they have to stay or heel when commnanded too. And a lead should be on hand for when it is required. Dogs like to hang about and have a sniff and I don't like hanging about so walk on and let them catch up and follow behind but as soon as they pass me, I allow a small distance but if that gap gets too big then it's 'heel'. It's then either heel or you go on the lead as a punishment. Short lead rather than a training lead that can extend 6ft attached to a regular collar, though a training lead can be kind cool as you can give the dog a little more freedom but still within your control.

  • Its the law. A dog must be on a lead in public.

We know it’s the law. Norra was arguing that it is a law too many.

I can see both sides of that argument, but frankly most of us don’t want to be approached by strange dogs, even if they are just being curious, and we certainly don’t want to see Rottweilers on the streets and off the leads. Or any dogs that aren't under control either.

Just as with guns and knives - good, law-abiding people do not need to be controlled by law enforcement. If there was no laws forbidding stabbing a person - I would not stab a person. I have no wish to harm anyone, except in self-defence.

I never allowed my dogs off the lead. Why? Because I considered, had empathy, toward other people. Many people are scared of dogs, any breed of dog. Just as many dog owners do not give a damn about other people.
