  • Bad as Boris is, The UK has been better led than if Corbyn and his gang of Marxists had managed to get into power.

What this country needs is a real conservative at the helm, one who would tell Ireland and the EU to get lost.

    The Voice of Reason

  • A competent Brexiteer who can command respect in the world.

Brexit is done , we have left the EU & this country is in a mess .

Johnson won the election for the tories because millions of gullible people believed his BS

What we need is someone with integrity, someone who plays with a straight bat who keeps their word who dare I say can restore Britain’s place in the world

No doubt negotiations can then be far more productive with the EU & with other potential partners

  • I want more. I now want to see Carrie take the sprog and leave him and then Stanly Johnson have a heart attack and die. We need the icing on the cake for all the hurt he has caused this country and he does not deserve to simply walk away from this into a nice well paid job somehwere or some kind of public speaking. We are in the same situation as Russia now. Take out Putin and some other nutter will replace him.

Yes but he was and probably still respected by other nations leaders, but had so much Mud thrown at him day after day after day it was bound to drown him

No, Brexit is not done in terms of making it work. The next PM will need to get rid of all that bureaucratic EU legislation and work on those new trade deals, for a start.

If you think Brexit is done and dusted, clearly you don’t understand it’s purpose. We may have left the EU, but we have yet to extricate ourselves from it.

  • The vote was should we leave or remain in the EU

A small majority said leave & we have left.

I’m certainly not disagreeing that there is a lot of work to do in terms of negotiations with the EU & others but for reasons I have already stated Johnson was never the man to do that successfully.

We need somebody with integrity & a good dose of pragmatism to move things forward.

As for the bonfire of EU legislation it is a fantasy.

I’m sure we all see regulation in the industries we work in that appears to reduce risks which in themselves seem very small risks in the first place but it takes a very brave person to step forward & say that any risk no matter how small is worth taking

Despite what I said to you in the Boris thread about being relaxed about a remainer taking over, over the last 24 hours I have changed my mind somewhat after listening to some media interviews by some MPs and agree it must be a Brexiteer now.

So as the tenure of the worst PM in my lifetime draws to a close , who will replace him ?

I always liked Ben Wallace, but have been extremely annoyed with him that he didn't step down when it was clear that Boris was a total disaster, but I think I will put that to one side and state that I would like him to take over.

My other choice would be Steve Baker. However, I recently found out a few months that he is part of the god squad and I am a little suspicious of people who worship non-existent deities. But he is highly qualified and experienced and like Ben Wallace, I think he has the highest order of integrity which is sorely needed now.

Agree 100% and imagine how Corbyn would deal with Putin? Probably invite him for afternoon tea and cake.

Whilst I think Corbyn was a huge own goal for the Labour Party its the Tory party that has the links with Russian money .Only today it turns out that Johnson met Lebedev senior former KGB agent without suitable escort.

Back in the Cold War years that alone would be a sacking offence

  • Ok Cards on the table.. I think Ben Wallace would make a fine PM... X Military and with a good pedigree in various government departments. I would be pleased to see him promoted.

    The Voice of Reason

  • Well whoever it is needs serious Brexit credentials. Remoaners need not apply.

    X military would be good.

History is much like an Endless Waltz. The three beats of war, peace and revolution continue on forever.

Remoaner , your use of such childish language shows the kind of person you are .

It’s people like you who view politics like some kind of TV game show that made Johnson PM in the first place.

Johnson’s personality was well known before he ever became leader of the Conservative party

The closeness of the oligarchs to the political elite at Westminster is well known and never should have happened. It's a shame its taken a major war to change that particuar situation.

Yes we are not free of their deliberate interreference yet, they are being as belligerent as possible the real aim of the EU is a Socialist Empire with its own army.

  • Whoever becomes the next PM I think should not be anyone that is or recently resigned from the current cabinet. It should be an outsider that is not in the media limelight.

  • Tom Tugendhat , certainly seems a man with integrity & an educated view of the world.

    French wife ,speaks Arabic .

Probably won’t appeal to the red wall because he’s not one of them ( like Johnson ever was !)
