  • It's something the hard left believe and that's not going to change.

Unless Starmer can be rid of all the hard lefties, which I doubt, he should jsut manage it.

  • If you want to guarantee policies are not discussed and you are not held to account during an election you can always throw in that old "where are the antisemites" game.

I can not recall a single election - from the run-up to Corbyn - when spot the antisemite - has not been raised as the main event.

How odd these people are only antisemites in the run-up to an election? How odd no one has ever heard them express prejudices before?

It stops them from discussing "Man with a penis is a ............"? It stops them from discussing "why did you "scale back" the 28 billion"? and much more. Its the oldest trick in the book.

Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.

  • Yes, there's some truth in that, Echo, but I think we can all see how this issue has been thrown back in our faces with the Israel/Gaza war. It is an issue whether we like it or not.

  • Don't believe a word about Starmer getting rid of antisemitism in the Labour party. If he was serious he would have deselected the antisemite MPs that joined the marches, waving Palestinian flags and chanting along with the other antisemites. Don't forget, Starmer supported Corbyn - twice, as did Rayner.

We need to call antisemitism by its real name - it's racism.

    Exactly.

  • I think Sunaks days are numbered.

I want Kemi. If she becomes leader I will support the Tory Party. She will bring back Braverman and take the Tory party to its root principles of Conservatism.

Rule Of Law - Accountability. Fly the flag.

I don't I think she would be a disaster. She's too easily knobbled by the lib dems in the tory party. If I had a choice of any of them I would have Iain Duncan Smith.

She is fierce in debates. She has outstanding experience for a young person.

She opposes woke bollox and any form of minority first crap.

    With that, I wholeheartedly agree.

Kemi has to be conciliatory at this stage, otherwise she will make enemies when she needs the votes.

I too thought Iain Duncan Smith would be a good leader, but I was disappointed and embarrassed when he became the Leader of the Conservative Party while Blair was in office. He did not make an impression and was dubbed ‘The Quiet Man’.

Sorry, but while I agree with many of his views, I would be disinclined to give him another chance. The Conservatives can ill afford to make yet another mistake with their choice of Leader.

  • When I first saw Kemi - in the limelight - I thought, here we go again another black female shoved in our face? But then I watched her in action, she is principled, and has values. Her Wiki page reads like she has been an ambassador in politics for decades. She has held numerous positions, office of state so to speak.

Agreed. The only other choice is Farage.

She's a bit "rabbit in the headlights" for me and not strong enough as a leader.

  • I think the local branches of the Conservative Party need to have an ideological clear out. How have we ended up with socialists and lid dems pretending to be conservatives in government?

Celebrate it, Anticipate it, Yesterday's faded, Nothing can change it, Life's what you make it

Added to that a series of weak and ineffectual leaders. The Conservatives are on a hiding to nothing now that they have stopped being a proper Conservative party.

    The Voice of Reason

  • That is exactly the problem; Ineffective leaders.

Anyone can hold the top position that does not mean they have leadership skills. Akin to the arse-licking, brown-nosed at work. They get promotions by saying the right thing and reading up on policy. Anyone can do that.

Leadership is another matter altogether. I have never rated or respected a "boss" who had no integrity, no humility.

In my work, I had to make quick decisions but the scaffolding was my integrity and compliance with the law no matter the pressure from bully types, stupid types, and arrogant types.

Even in my days as a Labour supporter, I respected people such as Tebbit - Heseltine - et al.

  • She seems to be on message as far as I am concerned and so far I’ve not seen a better candidate who is willing to stand.

She backs Sunak and did so openly just a couple of weeks ago. Not great considering Sunaks popularity and even more-so considering that she was the hot candidate behind Liz Truss and she was handed Sunak as PM instead of her.
