  • I support the EU.

My reason for supporting the EU, is that it brings peace, geopolitical stability, geopolitical security, human rights, and democracy.

The EU allows small European nations to stand up to larger forces that want to play European nations against one and other.

History shows weak divided regions become proxy battle grounds for the superpowers.

  • Supporting the EU and being part of that near-socialist bureaucracy are two different things, Joey.

I agree with all those things & I think it was a mistake to leave

However I would also concede that I wasn’t particularly keen on further integration

  • Well lie naked wrapped in an EU flag and beat yourself silly, we won't tell 🙈🙊🙉🤭

Do unto others as they would do unto you, then f**k off before the Police get there. :saint:

  • It also supports straight bananas and throwing dead fish that are not of the right size back into the Sea. As with any organisation there are pros and cons but more relevant is having control over ones own country and not to be led by some wider master who enslaves us.

I think you could help us if you provide some real examples of what you are saying.

In particular geopolitical stability and democracy.

I get that some small countries like being part of it collective but doesn’t the UK disprove that suggestion?

Celebrate it, Anticipate it, Yesterday's faded, Nothing can change it, Life's what you make it

  • There is no problem, as I see it, with people who have a serious adherence to the structure, and political administration of the EU, moving home and living in an EU country. Ireland looks good.

It must be true - the BBC reported it > >

TBH can you really believe it is better in the UK?

  • I do not cite a perfect country as such does not exist. The premise as stated in the post almost requested my answer. The person WANTS an EU existence, so to speak. Who is stopping that person from having the desire fullfilled.

you live n cloud cuckoo world

I think that leaving the EU working for an airline that flew routes across Europe I have worked in many different countries across Europe & had a great time doing it .

I never had “ a serious adherence to the structure “ of the EU , I send the freedom that EU membership gave me

With the exception of Ireland I can no right to live anywhere n the EU

I guess that depends what you mean by an EU existence.

The UK leaving the UK leaving the EU does not threaten the EUs existence, that is in its own hands, but dissatisfaction within its ranks appears to be growing.

If your talking about as a country without spelling out the obvious, remain lost the vote. As the majority opted to leave if you are remainer then at least you got a vote, I didn't get one on Lisbon etc.

If you still hanker for a lost love then to relive that EU existence you clearly are master of your own fate, move to an EU nation.

My advice for what it's worth is to pick carefully as I said earlier dissatisfaction is growing, the right rising its days may be numbered.

Southern Ireland has a population the equivalent of Scotland, we both know that's less than the population of London. Ireland also has a constitution that requires referendums be held before certain changes can be made, it's first refusal of the Lisbon treaty a prime example. Clearly that is a major undertaking but exacerbated somewhat for 67 million. I also look recently at public unrest there, but its also happened in Scotland. Is the grass really any greener?

  • It appears that some only support Democracy when the vote goes their way,

That old nonsense again, this was not an election , this was a referendum.

A referendum dreamt up by Cameron to silence the the right of the Tory party & UKIP

Obviously it went spectacularly wrong but that doesn’t mean I have to agree with the process or the result

  • Referenda are socially extremely divisive. It is no way to make a decision affecting the whole country.

    What’s wrong with manifestos?

More of your nonsense, it was a Democratically held Referendum , the same as a GE everyone that was entitled to a vote was free to do so and like a GE some did not take part did not voice their opinion, I waited decades to have my say on the EU, nothing went wrong you just did not like what the out come was, you lost stop crying about it

  • Where any referendum is held, it is very likely that the result will be pretty close. So it was with the referendum on Scottish independence. And, like the Scotland independence referendum, the Brexit one has left a very large disappointed section of the public.

It takes a lot of time to get over the upset of being on the losing side, and the natural reaction is to keep banging on about it and wanting to have a second vote.

  • If Labour wins the GE it is highly likely a second Referendum on re-joining the EU may happen, if it does happen and the majority in favour of going back in , that is Democracy in action.

However it may take time to come about and at a price
